Don Bosco Lonavla organised a five-day intense ’train the trainer’ training programme in basic robotics and AI learning, from 10-14 June 2024. The entire teaching staff, including Salesians participated with keen interest.
The training facilitator was Chinmay Dubey of Indore-based QROBOTIX. Dubey’s extensive experience in electronics and communications engineering enabled a good trainer-trainee rapport.
The training session is intended to enable self-learning for the teaching staff, so as to teach robotics to their students during the academic year. Principal Father Ranson D’Souza said, “this year onward we are introducing robotics and AI learning as part of the curriculum, and hence this training was necessitated.”
Teachers are now equipped to teach zensor calibration, object detection, tracking robots, and a host of other advanced AI curriculum using pic to blocks, QuarkE and complex algorithms. The teachers also created and guided a RobotPet as a culmination of the training.
Rector Father Blany Pinto who attended the sessions quipped, “This is so very exciting and fantastic. I hope our students will engage with this in a fun and practical way.”
